It balances very nicely but some of the heavier loads in. BLACKHAWK/VAQUERO grips fit Ruger models with an XR3-RED grip frame. It tapers off and and is simply "thinner gauge". The Mountain Gun does have an overall lighter barrel than what you'll get in a 629.
